On an as-needed basis, the Zuckerman Museum of Art will send out a call for student assistantships. These paid positions are a great way to gain experience in public service, administration, and the museum field as you earn your degree. Kennesaw State University students from any academic concentration are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities include but are not restricted to:
Aiding with and overseeing the museum’s daily operations including opening and closing the galleries; monitoring the art work and exhibitions during operating hours; welcoming and guiding museum guests; assisting with special programming and events; performing administrative tasks and research; conducting special tours; and assisting with exhibition installation and/or de-installation.
Applicants must be currently enrolled at Kennesaw State University, meet KSU’s Human Resources requirements for such a position, and be in good academic standing. Selected applicants will be asked to consent to a criminal background check and follow KSU’s student employment guidelines.
The Zuckerman Museum of Art offers competitive internships for course credit to students who are currently enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students. As an intern, students gain practical, real world experience with the inner workings of a dynamic, contemporary art museum and collecting institution.
Internships take on one of several specialized tracks at the ZMA.
Curatorial Internship: Aid with exhibition research and development. Two internships are available each fall semester. Two are available during the fall and spring semesters each, and one is available during the summer semester.
Museum Education Internship: Work on educational programming for college level and K-12 outreach. One Museum Education Internship may available per semester at the discretion of supervising staff.
Registration/ Collection Management Internship:Assist with the management, care, and cataloguing of KSU’s 6,000 piece collection, including the Southern Graphics Council International’s print collection and archives. One Registration/ Collection Management Internship may be available per semester at the discretion of supervising staff.
Special Projects Internship: Occasionally the ZMA will announce an internship for a special project. Such internships may involve graphic design, market research, or public relations. Please join the ZMA email list to keep up with such calls.
To apply for an internship, please submit a resume, contact information for three references, and a letter of intent stating how the internship pertains to your career goals. Also, within the letter of interest specify which internship field you are interested in and why. Curatorial internship applicants are required to submit a writing sample. Museum Education applicants are required to submit a sample lesson plan or docent tour.

Spring semester internship (January-May):
Application Period: September 1-14 during the previous fall semester
Announcement of Accepted Interns: No later than October 31
Summer semester internship (June-August):
Application Period: February 15-28 during the previous spring semester
Announcement of Accepted Interns: No later than March 31
Fall semester internship (August-December):
Application Period: March 15-31 during the previous spring semester
Announcement of Accepted interns: No later than April 30
Students of Kennesaw State University are given preference, though applicants from any accredited college or university are welcome to apply.
